So,
where do you get a block of ice that size? |
 |
Hand-cut by Eskimos from glaciers dating back
to the last great Ice-Age, carried across snowy
Arctic wastes by teams of huskies… No, actually
I've got a specially designed machine for making
them. |
| |
|
 |
And how does it
manage to make the ice so crystal-clear without
bubbles? |
 |
No idea, but the man who sold me the machine promised
me it would continue to do so, as long as I didn't
fiddle with the controls. |
| |
|
 |
These ice sculptures… |
 |
Yes? |
| |
|
 |
They're going to
melt, aren't they? |
 |
Yes. |
| |
|
 |
Well, how long are
they going to last then? |
 |
A much more sensible question. Since the sculptures
have normally been stored at -20 centigrade before
display, they will retain their crystal detail for
many hours. The slow transformation as the ice turns
back to water can, however, accentuate the detail.
Certainly one of the attractions of the sculptures
seems to be this very change. Anyway, it will certainly
outlast a wedding, but hopefully not the marriage. |

|
 |
Drips, puddles,
etc. It sounds a bit messy? |
 |
All taken care of. The sculptures come complete
with drip trays. |
| |
|
 |
What about delivery
and set-up? |
 |
Don't worry. All I need to know is the time, date
and place of your function and I will take care
of the rest. If walk-in freezer space is available
at your chosen venue, delivery is normally made
a day or more before the event. Hotel staff are
given comprehensive instructions for set-up, and
I have delivered to most hotels and catering groups
throughout the country. |

|
 |
Can I break a bit
off and put it in my drink? |
 |
Yes, by all means. The ingredients are 100% pure
filtered water. So there is no problem if the toddlers
decide to start licking it. Back to the drink: For
the perfect gin & tonic, I would recommend 80
bottles of gin to 30 gallons of Schweppes to one
300lb block of ice. |
| |
|
 |
How much notice
would I need to give for a sculpture? |
 |
That rather depends how busy I am. If you contact
me at least a month before, you can be sure I will
have time. If this is not possible, contact me anyway
and I will try to fit you in. |
| |
|
 |
I was wondering
if you could do something for me a bit special…? |
 |
Well, go on. I'd like to hear your ideas and wishes.
Some are more possible than others; but when you
see the end result, I aim to make sure that you
and your guests will be amazed. |
